Jennifer Velez

Jennifer Velez is a teacher, dedicated to serving her fellow educators and their students. Through innovative, data-driven approaches, Jennifer strives to expand educational opportunities for under-represented populations in STEM. Jennifer attended Arizona State University (ASU) where she obtained a BA in English Literature and later a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. She taught at a STEM focus school for seven years before joining ASU’s Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering in 2013 as a Program Coordinator Senior with the K-12 Engineering Education and Outreach team. Since joining ASU, Velez has managed such programs as FIRST LEGO League Robotics, MESA, the National Summer Transportation Institute, and, currently, EPICS High, a program that engages high school and middle school students in human-centered engineering projects for social good. Jennifer is also the advisor to ASU’s undergraduate chapter of MAES – Latinos in Science and Engineering. In her free time, Jennifer enjoys spending time with family, playing sports, and reading.

STEM Rev Experience Statement:
My experience as a STEM Revolution trainer has been transformative - both personally and professionally. I am continually inspired and challenged by the teachers I get to meet and work with from around the globe.
